Homemade Mint Lemonade Tips

  • It’s recommended to use warm water instead of cold, as it helps the sugar dissolve much faster. This gives you a smoother and refreshing drink without any grainy texture at the bottom.
  • If fresh cherries aren’t available, you can use frozen cherries. They still provide great flavor and color, mixed in, you likely won’t notice much difference. It’s a very convenient option that you can keep on hand year round.
  • You can also use store bought bottled lemon juice instead of freshly squeezed lemon. While fresh lemon juice gives the brightest flavor, bottled juice is a quick and practical alternative that still adds the needed citrusy balance.
  • SUBSTITUTIONS: Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your taste however you prefer. You can replace regular sugar with liquid honey, agave syrup, stevia, brown sugar, cane sugar, monk fruit sweetener, coconut sugar, or any other sweetener you prefer. Keep in mind that some sweeteners are stronger than sugar, so you may need to adjust the amount to get the flavor just right for you.

  1. I am a big fan of mint. Where I grew up in rural Canada there was a patch of wild mint in the woods and my mother used to make jelly out of it. Your drink sounds absolutely heavenly and the colour is divine!
