Healthy Homemade Chocolate Truffles {Gift Idea}
Easy to make no bake healthy homemade chocolate truffles recipe with almond flour, walnuts, cacao powder and dates. Great edible gift idea.
These little energy balls are gluten free, vegan, no bake and without any artificial flavors. I used 4 ingredients to make these chocolate truffles. Plus water and optional coconut flakes. Either almond meal or almond flour can be used. Is there a difference between almond flour and almond meal? Almond flour is made from blanched almonds while almond meal is made either from blanched or unblanched almonds. In addition to these healthy truffles it is important to use dates. They add a sweetness without using any extra sugars. Anyway, these homemade truffles are perfect for snacking during the day or as a gift.
How to make Chocolate Truffles
Firstly, buy all necessary ingredients to make the balls: almond flour, walnut pieces, dates, cacao powder and unsweetened coconut flakes. Secondly, the dates need to be soaked in 1/2 cup water for 10 minutes. Blend dates and water with walnut pieces until smooth. Finally, in a bowl combine dates and walnut paste with almond meal and cacao powder. Form balls and roll each ball into the coconut flakes. Use pretty box for your chocolate balls.
How to make almond flour?
Prepare blanched almonds and food processor or blender. Process your almonds into fine flour. Don’t over do it. Otherwise you will end up with almond butter.
Tips to make Homemade Truffles
- All dates need to be pitted for this recipe. You don’t want hard pieces remaining in your energy balls.
- I used my Ninja Blender to blend dates and walnuts into a paste.
- Also, I used this Super-Fine Almond Flour for my easy vegan chocolate truffles.
- Moreover, if you don’t have cacao powder, use cocoa powder instead.

It’s our second Whole30. He missed bread, but I didn’t. I missed sugar! Overall we thought the Whole30 was hard but good.

If you opted not to use coconut what other things could you use instead? Shaved chocolate?
Shaved chocolate, crushed almonds, cocoa powder… anything will be good.
Coconut flakes are such a great topping for a sweet dessert treat.
I agree Kim:)
