What’s better than healthy turkey meatballs topped with teriyaki sauce and packed with veggie? These turkey meatballs came out so good that I had to share it right away. Made without any extra oils. They are not fried; they are baked at 350F. Definitely, they will be seen more often on our plates in this house:) Sometimes, I am looking for other meat alternatives beside chicken, pork or beef. And I heard once that turkey is even healthier than chicken. I’m not sure if it’s true or not. I just heard… that’s all.

I’m sick right now and I didn’t feel like writing a post today but I wanted to share it. Now I’m a little better but I hate flu season. My son was sick, now me.. here we go around. It’s normal this time of the year.

I think I once told you that I have problem with my younger son eating veggies. So I’m trying to find some ways to hide vegetables everywhere, for example here: Carrot Strawberry Banana Smoothie. He loves cucumbers and he can eat them all the time. Recently he began to eat sugar snaps. So we are improving. I have a new recipe coming out soon with hidden beet!

I grated carrot and I used with my turkey meatballs. They are hardly noticeable so my son didn’t even know about them. Also, I smeared my turkey meatballs with teriyaki sauce. First, I wanted to post a recipe for the homemade teriyaki sauce but I was not 100% satisfied with my sauce. It was good, but my husband said that it’s to sweet. For me it was perfect; but the other thing is that it was to watery and it didn’t have a good consistency. I will work on it and definietly share the new teriyaki recipe here on Ilona’s Passion.

Turkey Meatballs {Hidden Veggie}

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 0.518 kg or 1lb ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. grated carrot it can be more
  • 2 Tbsp. bread crumbs
  • salt/pepper to taste

Optional

  • Store-bought or homemade teriyaki sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Prepare pan and lay parchment paper.
  • Mix ground turkey with egg, grated carrot, bread crumbs, salt and pepper.
  • Form small balls and lay on parchment paper.
  • Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.

  1. Hiding veggies in a turkey meatball is such a great way to incorporate extra veggies in your kids’ diets. I love turkey for meatballs. It doesn’t have a ton of flavor on its own, but is so easy to “dress it up” with all the goodies 🙂

  2. I love recipes that have hidden veggies! I have a child that will not willing eat a vegetable, so I have to get creative! This one sounds perfect!
