Beet Detox Smoothie

Detox smoothie with beetroot, blueberries, strawberries and banana.

Ingredients

  • 1 beet small, peeled
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1 banana small (optional)

Instructions

  • Cut beet into cubes. Fill pot with water, add beet.
    1 beet, 1 1/2 cup water
  • Cook until soft, about 20-30 minutes. Cool off completely. Keep remaining water.
  • In the blender add cooked beet with remaining water, strawberries, blueberries and banana. Blend until smooth.
    1 cup strawberries, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1 banana

Notes

  • It is not necessary to cook the beet, however I found it easier to blend. The beet is softer.
  • Don't drain the water from cooked beet. Use it in the smoothie! It contains flavor and nutrients.
  • Add more water if the beetroot smoothie will become thick.
  • I used my favorite Ninja Blender for this smoothie. It blends fruits and vegetables smoothly. I use my blender daily for smoothies.
  • SUBSTITUTIONS: Instead of blueberries or strawberries, raspberries can be used in this smoothie. The banana is optional.
