Baked Lemon Fish Tips
- When it comes to preparing broccoli, it is always best to cut it into small and manageable pieces. By doing so, you can ensure that the broccoli will cook through evenly, resulting in a tender and delicious texture. Not only does this method of cutting make it easier to handle the broccoli, but it also allows for efficient and effective cooking.
- When it comes to baking fish, there are two choices: covered or uncovered. If you choose to bake the fish covered, this method will help to retain the moisture and tenderness of the fish. By sealing it in with a cover, the fish will cook in its own juices, resulting in a succulent and flavorful dish. On the other hand, baking the fish uncovered will allow for a slight caramelization to occur. This will create a slightly crusty exterior while maintaining a moist interior. It’s all about personal preference and the desired outcome of your dish.
- The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets or whole fish. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking.
- To serve alongside your baked fish, there are many options. Mashed potatoes, whether traditional or sweet potatoes, are always a classic and comforting choice. The creaminess of the potatoes pairs perfectly with the delicate flavors of the fish. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, rice or quinoa make for nutritious and versatile accompaniments. Or, if you’re in the mood for something more indulgent, you can never go wrong with a plate of perfectly cooked pasta.
Parmesan Broccoli Lemon Fish FAQ’S
Marinating fish in lemon juice is a common practice to add flavor and help “cook” the fish using the acid in the lemon juice. However, it’s important not to marinate white fish (or any fish) in lemon juice for too long, as the acid can start to break down the delicate fish flesh and give it a mushy texture. Typically, you can marinate white fish in lemon juice for about 15 to 30 minutes. This should be sufficient to impart the desired flavor and start the marinating process without overdoing it. If you leave the fish in lemon juice for too long, it can become overly tangy and the texture might be compromised.
When it comes to baking fish, there are several types of fish that work well due to their mild flavor, firm texture, and ability to hold up to baking without falling apart. Some of the best kinds of fish to bake include: cod, haddock, halibut, tilapia, sea bass, salmon, trout.

Hi Ilona,
I’m going to try your recipe tonight!
I was a bit confused as to why at the beginning of the recipe it says that it takes 8hrs, 57 mins prep time and 8hrs, 57mins cooking time? I’m assuming that is a printing error!
Kind Regards,
Emma
Yes, it is printing error, I need to correct it. Thank you!
Do you have to marinate the fish in oil and lemon? Could I drizzle the oil and lemon on the fish before baking? Thanks so much for the recipe!
I marinated the fish, but you can certainly drizzle before baking.
what makes this recipe look “creamy”? I’m making this tonight!
The juice comes from the fish when is baked and then it combines together with lemon, parmesan and oil. I hope you’ll like it:)
