- Sweet Potatoes – peeled and cooked.
- Butter – to add richness to sweet potato puree.
- Salt – Himalayan, sea salt or table salt.
- Parmesan Cheese – to add extra flavor, other cheese can be used as well.
How to make Mashed Sweet Potatoes

- Mash sweet potatoes, add butter and salt, top it with parmesan cheese.

- You don’t have to dice sweet potato, just cut into few pieces or slice thickly before boiling in the water.
- If potatoes are not salty enough, add more, it is based on your preferences, you can also add salted butter if you want.
- SUBSTITUTIONS: If you don’t have parmesan cheese you can use different cheese, for example: parmigiano reggiano, gruyere cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese or any other that you like or have at home. Any cheese will add extra flavor to potato.
Creamy Sweet Potato Puree Faq’s
You don’t have to actually peel potatoes if you don’t want to, however they will probably require few minutes longer to cook. Also, potato mash might be more creamy without a peel.
Make sure you drain the water completely before mashing.
Yes you can, they are great for meal prep, just store them in airtight (preferably) glass container for up to 4-5 days, reheat on the stove or in microwave.
Simply check with fork if they are soft enough.

Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese shredded
Instructions
- Peel sweet potatoes and slice thickly. Place in a large pot with water, make sure sweet potatoes are covered completely with water.2 sweet potatoes
- Cook on low-medium heat for approximately 20-25 minutes until soft.
- Drain sweet potatoes, mash with potato masher.
- Add butter and salt, mix in.1 Tbsp. unsalted butter, 1 tsp. salt
- Top with shredded parmesan cheese.1/2 cup parmesan cheese
