It’s nice to make your own dressing at home. It’s easy to make and and you know exactly what it’s made of. Many store-bought dressings are packed with nasty ingredients that I don’t want to eat. I love them. And there are certain flavors that I can’t resist to buy.

Even my children they love only one dressing from the store and nothing else. If I find a healthy version and I will serve it for dinner they don’t like it. I’m always looking for new ideas to exchange store-bought cheesy dressing for the my unprocessed homemade dressing.

The buttermilk basil dressing I didn’t even had in mind to make, it was just quick impulse. I went to my friend’s house the other day and her neighbors left for really long European vacation leaving all the goodies in the garden. They said we can take whatever we want, so I was hooked instantly. You can check on my Instagram what I brought from their garden. Lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions and fresh herbs. I already thought I would love to have my own garden with so many good homegrown veggies.

My head was full of new ideas what I will make with so many vegetables. I made yummy Pesto —-> recipe coming soon! And it’s already gone. Like this buttermilk dressing with fresh basil leaves, chive and garlic powder. It’s gone already too because it was so good. I used garlic powder because it has milder taste than real garlic clove. And I didn’t feel like having strong garlicky flavor.

The buttermilk dressing is perfect for fresh vegetables like lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes or even peppers. It can be simply stored in refrigerator for many days.
