Winter appetizer platter including seasonal products including cranberries, oranges, cheese, persimmon, pomegranate, peanuts, ham and salami. Savory and Sweet appetizer ideas.
I love that every season of the year has its own products. While I was growing up in Poland we ate everything seasonally because other food was not available at this time. I couldn’t find strawberries in January. They were only in June and July and I had to satisfy myself with my favorite fresh fruit for the rest of the year. However, we made enough jams or compotes for the whole year. While I was in Poland this Summer we also ate everything what was in season.
I’ve noticed that here in Canada or USA we basically have all produce all year long. Of course, I won’t find pomegranate in summer but strawberries are all year long. However, to focus more on seasonal products I made winter appetizer platter that it’s simple to assembly and all your friends can enjoy yummy products any time of the winter.
Few weeks ago I made Fall Fruit and Cheese Platter with seasonal products like plums, apples, pears, walnuts and more. For today’s post I used cranberries, persimmon, peanuts, pomegranate, salami, ham, European cheese, salty crackers and oranges. You can find many of these products all year long but few addition of the winter fruits added some uniqueness to this platter. I am not sure why but oranges were also associated with holidays for me. It’s probably because they were only available during Christmas when I was growing up. I decided to make orange slices dipped in chocolate. They were delicious and so easy to make!
To accompany my winter appetizer platter I also made my favorite Homemade Unsweetened Cranberry Juice that I drink very often because of the benefits. I hope you’ll like the whole winter appetizer platter and you’ll make it for the Holidays or any time of the winter. Before I will end this post I would like to wish you Happy Holidays because this will be my last post before Christmas. Lots of baking, cooking and cleaning I have to do next week.
As the Holiday approaches, may your home be filled with lots of Laughter and Yummy smells!
